We had been planning this for a few weeks and wanted to show our friends at the contest what this whole kitecanoe thing was about, We informed Mike Waltze the event organizer that we would do a fly by during the event. The conditions during the event were terrible and winds were gusting off shore around 35knts. We were checking everyday for the right conditions, on the final day of the event we decided to go, this was our last chance. Ronny Hooked up the lipstick cam to the lines and Martin started to swim the kite out, about 20 minutes later we were out in the clear wind. It was so offshore that we were having alot of trouble getting downwind we also had just rigged up a double ama set up and the canoe was behaving very differently, we had Patrik Koller from switzerland (one of the top snowkiters in the world) on board and he was kind of green on what to do, there was alot of yelling going of where to be and not to be .

We finally made it to hookipa and Mark Angulo met us on the jet ski and said they would stop the event and let us catch some waves for 20min. So there we were, front and center at Hookipa, this was great as this was the only time of the year it was allowed to be there with a kite, we did some nice jibes and caught a few small waves and flashed our bottom sticker EAT ME to the crowds on the beach, most of our friends were surprised at the power and speed we could whip the canoe around. We ended up at lanes and did some off the lips and bottom turns and got out of some harry situations without flipping the canoe, The wind kept on increasing and finally after many collaspe's the kite's leading edge valve came undone, We did a quick paddle in to Tavares bay and called it a day. We were kind of disapointed with the conditions as they didn't really allow us to show what we could do. but later at the event party people starting coming up and saying we were the highlight of the day!.So I guess they will be a hawaiin canoe division next year.

Aloha don
